Jules Verne, author of the work that made many fall in love with submarines, Vingt mille lieues sous les mers (Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea), was born on this day in 1828.His works are full of stirring adventure, and were often published with covers as enticing as his prose. Andrew Nash's website, JulesVerne.ca, has many images of covers, spines, and sets, that will send your imagination under the sea, across the sea, and to the moon.
